So writing is hard. Finding the motivation is hard. Rough drafts are hard.

I think I need to change her career. I had her as an 8th Grade English teacher but I realized, either she would teach all subjects or she would have multiple classes of students, both of which not elements I want to tackle in the form of a short story. I'm thinking of making her a librarian instead. I'm not exactly sure how plausible that is in today's society, a young, full-time librarian, but I think it will serve my purposes well. It still allows for a great deal of job insecurity, while giving her room to interact with selective children, and allows me the freedom to make her afraid to suggest or read fantasy books for fear of worsening her fantasies.

I also think I might need to shorten my premise to dealing with the issues of only one child instead of three. I still would like to at least hint that the fantasies deal with more than just the one child, even other aspects of her life, such as her relationship with her boyfriend.

I'm really hoping this change of career and/or scene will help get me out of the rut I've been in. Although in an unfortunate way, it will also force me to rewrite most of what I've already written. Oh well, such is life.

    Writewritewrite.
